Are you drinking enough??


It amazes me how many people I know or meet who drink very little water.

Humans can survive without food for weeks but without water you would be lucky to survive a few days depending on the environment your in.
Our bodies are made up of 60% water. Therefore, water plays a vital role in every aspect of our bodies needs.

Water supports our-

Digestion

Skin 

Circulation

Metabolism

Sleep

Energy levels 

Mood

If your leading a healthy and active lifestyle and you don’t drink enough water then in my opinion your efforts are flawed. 

You will achieve results a lot faster if you are properly hydrated.

Even if we don’t eat healthy or workout regularly drinking water is so important for our overall health.

Here are my top tips for staying hydrated-

1. Drink a minimum of 2 litres a day or   more, especially when its hot!β˜€οΈπŸ’¦ 

2. Buy a 1 litre bottle of water and take this to work and ensure you drink this before the end of the day.

3. Refill your bottle when your home or out with friends and ensure you take sips until this has gone. 

4. Avoid or limit the amount of fruit flavoured water you consume due to its sugar content. 

5. If you don’t like the taste of water add your own fruit for a refreshing twist.πŸ‘πŸΌ

6. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to drink and certain times of day.

7. Download this cool app that reminds you to drink and tracks how much you have consumed daily.

8. Ask your family,friends and colleagues to remind you to drink water.

The Coffee lovers festive drinks guide for 2017.

Coffee lovers everywhere, save your pennies and your waist line this festive season! Check out my low calorie hot chocolate recipe below and gain some insight on what the 3 major coffee giants are serving for Christmas 2017.

People seem to get very excited about the festive drinks, each to their own but i’d much rather sink my teeth into a large slice of chocolate cake or a delicious mince pie.
Due to bad publicity in recent years, largely due to the sheer volumes of sugar and fat in their Christmas drinks range, Starbucks, Costa and Cafe Nero owners can sleep better this Christmas knowing they have reduced the sugar content across a selection of their festive drinks menu! 

However don’t be fooled these drinks are still laden with huge amounts of sugar and fat. 

If people are health concious like me,  I certainly wouldn’t recommend indulging regularly in these hot festive beverages on your daily coffee run. These are definitely a rare treat and here are a few examples of why from the top 3 coffee chain’s menu’s.

Starbucks Christmas Drinks menu calories-

Toffee Nut Latte – Tall: 264, Grande: 348, Venti: 416

Gingerbread Latte – Tall: 258, Grande: 343 , Venti: 412

Festive Cold Brew – Tall: 25, Grande: 33 , Venti: 41

Eggnog Latte – Tall: 271, Grande: 344 , Venti: 450

Fudge Hot Chocolate – Tall: 257, Grande: 315, Venti: 414.

Topping the chart of the most indulgent winter drinks is Costa’s Mint Hot Chocolate, made with whole milk.

The drink contains a staggering 452 calories – more than a Tesco Chicken And Bacon Mayonnaise Sandwich (445)! It also has 20.4g of fat and 45.5g of sugar – a whopping 11.5 teaspoons that’s more than a MARS BAR! 

Starbucks’ Fudge Hot Chocolate has also been ranked one of the most unhealthiest festive drinks again this year! 

However there are a few healthier options for those of you who are interested.

Costa has a salted caramel cappuccino which is only 69 calories, it also has the least amount of sugar. 

Caffe Nero have kept their tiramisu latte this year which also fairs well on the low sugar side.

As with all drinks at any of these chains you can still enjoy them without the cream and syrups which will reduce the calorie,sugar and fat content slightly. 

If your interested in saving your pennies and your waist line this Christmas here is a tasty drink you can enjoy without the guilt.


Ingredients-
120ml x Alpro dark chocolate almond milk 

1 tsp x coffee

40ml x boiling water

Sprinkle of cinnamon.

Boil the kettle and dissolve the coffee in the 40ml of hot water.

Add the dark chocolate milk and stir. 

Place in a microwave on full power for 1 minute 

Once warm enough sprinkle some cinnamon on top and enjoy.

This drink contains-
Calories- 59 Carbs- 9.5g Sugar- 8.6g Fat- 1.6g
